Wow, that was probably the toughest race I’ve had here in Milwaukee! I felt good about the No. 83 NovoLog FlexPen Chevrolet. It was a challenge with the handling at first, but the car just got better and better throughout the race. Overall, the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing came away with a positive feeling from the race. We learned a bit from our teammates–good job with two top-10s. We’ll work hard on improving for Iowa next weekend.

Thanks to the fans for coming out to The Mile today… we hope you enjoyed the action!

Happy race day!

The Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing team had a productive practice session this morning… a couple of sim qual laps and some front suspension adjustments. Entrants outside the top-10 in points get an extra set of tires, so we had those to work with this morning. We ran about 45 laps on used tires, with a full run being about 50, so I know it’s going to get interesting toward the end of those stints during the race.

I think we have a few things we’ll need to figure out before the race this afternoon, but overall the car is pretty good. For qualifying, we just need to talk ourselves into running flat. I’ll be 12th in line for qualifying–2 lap average. Check it out live at 12:30 p.m. Central via INDYCAR Race Control or on NBC Sports Network at 3 p.m. before the race broadcast at 4.

I’d say tonight’s practice session was a pretty good start to the weekend here in Milwaukee. We were just working on the race car for most of the session, and then we changed to new tires at the end and added some downforce to work on our qualifying setup. We have a little bit left to learn, but this is the type of situation where it really helps to have fast teammates that we can learn from. Hopefully we’ll be able to make all of Chip Ganassi Racing better overnight leading into tomorrow.

I have to say, it was really weird to be home on a Friday of a race weekend and even weirder to fly in on a practice day! It’s definitely good to be back at a race track after a weekend away. The Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing team has been working hard since they arrived here yesterday to get the car set up for practice later. We’ll just have one session today–5-6:15 p.m. Central–so tune in via INDYCAR Race Control this evening!

I’m going to grab some lunch before a media interview, then it will be time for engineering meetings. If you’re here at the track, I hope to see you at the autograph session at 3.

OK, I’m not technically “live from trackside” just yet… since we’re not on track until Saturday evening, I’m still physically in Indy for today. But my mind is definitely at The Mile! After a weekend off to relax and recharge, I’m really looking forward to getting up to Milwaukee’s short track with the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing team. Last year we worked hard on qualifying and it paid off, but we struggled in traffic during the race. With the unusual race schedule, we’ll be working to max that practice time with the No. 83 NovoLog FlexPen Chevrolet to make sure we’re racing up front this Sunday.
