IN CK’S WORDS
“Frankly I’m a little disappointed with a top-five finish; I think we were better than that today. I wasn’t awesome on a couple of the race craft pieces but we made progress in the pits. The Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing guys are always solid in the pits. We had a pretty good car; the car was solid, but the wake behind the Hondas seemed pretty big so I was struggling with that a little bit more. With the conditions being so different, I think we got caught out a little bit. The car was definitely better when it was warmer yesterday, but overall a solid day for the No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet.”

FRIDAY, MAY 13
RESULTS
Practice 3: P16, 1:09.7615
Qualifying: P2, 1:08.9816

IN CK’S WORDS
“We made the race car better and better during practice this morning, and we didn’t focus too much on qualifying. So with a front row start and a few balance pieces sorted out, I think we have a good pace for tomorrow. Having finished fifth here the last two years, I’m looking forward to the race. It’s neat to be on the front row. Congrats to Simon (Pagenaud) for getting the pole. I think we would have had to have the perfect lap to be able to match his lap time. It looks like it’s pretty close to a track record. That’s pretty impressive. But coming through tomorrow with a clear track at IMS is pretty special. It means that there’s just one guy in front of me and 23 behind me, so we’re going to try and keep it that way all day.”

THURSDAY, MAY 12
RESULTS
Practice 1: P18, 1:10.7112
Practice 2: P13, 1:10.2880

IN CK’S WORDS
“Overall we had a pretty good day of practice here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It’s always nice to be back on track at IMS. We worked on a lot of different things–mechanical platform, aerodynamic settings–and I think we’ve found a window we’re pretty happy with. We were able to run a good lap time; I think we were fourth quick at the time, but then people stacked in there. Some ran new tires while we didn’t, so I think we set ourselves up well as far as tire usage the rest of the weekend. Overall we’re pleased with the progress of the No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet. I think we need to find another few tenths right there to be really happy. But it’s so tight, so competitive, that just another tenth or two would have put us inside the fop-five.”
