IN CK’S WORDS
“I’m so proud of the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing team. Everyone at CGR worked really hard this weekend. We had a tough Friday, but everybody bounced back and just kept working hard. Qualifying 11th and finishing sixth was spectacular. We had some good battles on track; some guys raced me really well and it was a lot of fun. I loved being back at Road America, and I hope all the fans enjoyed the KOHLER Grand Prix. Congrats to Will, and especially Tony, because we pulled setup data after Friday and went that direction and it paid off today. A big thanks to my teammates and the No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet crew. The guys in pit lane got me positions just about every stop; it’s really nice when you don’t have to have pass them, you just drive away in pit lane.”

SATURDAY, JUNE 25
RESULTS
Practice 3: P19, 1:44.146
Qualifying: P11, 1:43.2649

IN CK’S WORDS
“I can’t say that I’m happy with 11th, but I’m pleased with the improvement. I think it shows how much we improved with the simple fact that we’re eight spots better than we’ve been all weekend in any session and just finishing up qualifying when it counts. The Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing guys stayed with me and kept working on the car and working on me. We got lucky with the yellow in the first session, but we’d done the lap time when we needed to and that really played well for making it into the next segment. We’ll keep an eye on the weather and see if it’s going to be wet in the warm up tomorrow, but we’ll go from there and see what we want to do in the race as far as the alternate and primary Firestones. We really need to decide which one is going to last. I know 50 laps doesn’t sound like much, but around here that’s still 200 miles.”

FRIDAY, JUNE 24
RESULTS
Practice 1: P20, 1:45.3892
Practice 2: P21, 1:44.4625

IN CK’S WORDS
“I’m really disappointed with today’s sessions. It’s not anywhere near as fast or competitive as we want to be. Fortunately our teammates are doing well, so we’ll take a look at what they are doing and where we can learn. I’m just really struggling with the sensation of grip around here for some reason. We’ll make it better over night–I think we already have a couple of good ideas, so we’ll go from there. We find a little bit of speed and lap time in the corners–that’s the good thing about a lot of corners. Tomorrow is a new day. We’ll be right there ready to compete.”
