IN CK’S WORDS
“I feel really badly for the 83 crew – they did such an awesome job in pit lane. They gave me positions in every single pit stop and really gave me the opportunity to go for the podium. I got a little aggressive trying to pass the 26 car on that last restart and lost some spots. We ended up eighth, which is definitely a fight back from where we were out there in the dirt with 30 to go. It’s just difficult because the No. 83 Tresiba® Chevrolet was quicker than that today. I’m disappointed, but I have to give so much credit to the guys and everyone at Chip Ganassi Racing this weekend.”

SATURDAY, JULY 30
RESULTS
Practice 3: P8, 1:04.889
Qualifying: P5, 1:04.364

IN CK’S WORDS
“There was definitely a lot going on out there in qualifying. One of the challenges for us in Group 1 qualifying was going out on a green track. It took a long time for the grip to come in and the Firestone tires to start really working. A lot of people went with two sets of alternates in anticipation of the rain. I thought we might have shot ourselves in the foot a bit going out on used primary and alternate sets and running around 10th or 11th at the time. At the end we took a set of sticker tires and ended up in the 64.40 second range which proved to work. Overall I’m happy with the effort and looking forward to a great race here tomorrow with the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing team.”

FRIDAY, JULY 29
RESULTS
Practice 1: P11, 1:04.9208
Practice 2: P6, 1:04.6429

IN CK’S WORDS
“Today was a good day. It’s really nice coming back to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The track is a lot of fun to drive–I think you can see that from the smiles on our faces. There are a few things that change year-to-year; the sealing patches in some of the corners are wearing differently, and it’s interesting how they rubber up. It’s a shame we didn’t get to put new tires on at the end of the second session due to the rain. I think we would have been quite quick. Some of the other cars up and down pit lane definitely put tires on and took a jump in lap times. I think the track is getting better. With the rain washing everything away, we’ll have to adapt to that tomorrow morning and see what the weather does for qualifying. I feel really good about the No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet; we were quick straight out of the box. Even though we didn’t test here last week, we were up to speed right away.”
