IN CK’S WORDS
“I don’t know what the 98 and 3 were doing there. I was coming into pit lane and they just sent the cars into the side of me. I’m really disappointed with that because we had such a good car before the incident. Everyone at Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing were on it all weekend–from fixing the car and going to the backup, I had so much confidence in the car everytime I climbed in. It’s disappointing for something silly in pit lane that was out of our control to put us down like that. After the crash, the car just wasn’t the same so we had to try to finish the race, get a lap back, try to help our teammates when we could and focus on finishing clean.”

IN CK’S WORDS
[On contact in Turn 1] “We were out on cold tires, I turned in and the car [tried to rotate] a couple of times. I caught it once, twice, three times and then went in backward. When I hit, my knee hit the back of the steering wheel and popped it off. We were definitely pleased in testing and we made some changes today based on what we learned, so I don’t know if we got caught out. We’ll go back and figure it out. The guys will get the car ready for tomorrow, we’ll keep an eye on what our teammates are doing and go forward from here.”

[On qualifying] “The No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet felt really rock solid, so I think I definitely could’ve gone a little bit harder. I cracked the throttle in Turn 1 in two laps, but I think that’s fairly understandable after what happened this morning. The Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing guys and really everyone on the team worked so hard to get me ready for qualifying – I really appreciate everyone’s efforts. The 83 car felt good in qualifying though. We’ll put some more downforce in it and work out a few more things tonight in practice to make sure we’re ready go for tomorrow.”
