IN CK’S WORDS
“I didn’t think we had a lot of contact with Graham – I felt like I gave him plenty of room around the inside. I was focused on the exit because the big passing opportunity especially with a restart like that was up the hill into the bus stop. The 83 Chevrolet was so fast and the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing guys were so fast in the pit lane. That last stint we were focusing on the fuel mileage number. We came up the hill and everyone else that I passed I got to the left, and everyone stayed right to block, and Will – it’s like he had no idea I was there. He just kept following I think the 26 car over, and ran me onto the grass, and when I bounced off the grass I bounced into him. I was sorry to have gotten into him, but frankly if he would have known I was there, I know he wouldn’t have run me off the road. It was a crazy race for us for sure. If you would’ve told me after we had to stop at the end for a splash of fuel that I’d end up in the top six I’m not sure I would’ve believed you. I’m really happy with the result for the No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet and even happier for Dixon for grabbing the win today.”

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
RESULTS
Practice 3: P9, 1:23.2093
Qualifying: P14, 1:24.8928

IN CK’S WORDS
“I’m really disappointed with how our qualifying ended today. The No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet was really fast, but that red flag on our fast lap really messed up our chances to move on. That lap was shaping up to be a pretty good one and I’m just upset we weren’t able to finish it. I feel really bad for the 83 guys – they gave me such a good car this weekend and we didn’t get a chance to show what it could do. The silver lining is that we’ll have an extra set of tires that some of the faster guys won’t have, but we’ll definitely have our work cut out for us. I’m confident that the car will be fast again tomorrow and we can move through the field quickly.”

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
RESULTS
Practice 1: P11, 1:25.5153
Practice 2: P18, 1:24.279

IN CK’S WORDS
“It was unfortunate to have a mechanical failure in the right rear during the second session. Fortunately we caught it in pit lane so it didn’t lead to anything bad on track. The No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet crew will fix it overnight. We can learn from the P1 and P3 cars, our teammates, and Max who is doing really well too. Everyone at Chip Ganassi Racing has a lot of confidence here this weekend. We’ll make some adjustments overnight, fine-tune it during practice tomorrow morning, then get it done during qualifying.”
