IN CK’S WORDS
“Yesterday we qualified 12th, but we knew we had a fast race car for today so we really just wanted to stay in clean air. Man, some of our lap times when we were in clean air were really quick. We thought we might be able to make something work with those times. I think we hamstrung ourselves by starting on scuffed reds – they didn’t hang on nearly as long as we thought they might. I think we had a really fast car and the guys did an awesome job in the pits. I can’t thank the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing crew enough for the job they’ve done all year – they’ve really stepped up to the challenge. Every year we keep moving up in the points, so we just need to figure out what we need to do in the off-season to make sure we come back even stronger next year.”

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
RESULTS
Practice 3: P10, 1:16.6253
Qualifying: P12, 1:16.9627

IN CK’S WORDS
“It was a good day for Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing getting into the top 12. It was definitely disappointing in Q2 not to have had a better lap, but with the challenge of the tires only being good for one lap you have to have a perfect lap. I didn’t quite get the best out of it in the second round of qualifying. We’re starting 12th and we have 85 laps to move forward tomorrow during the race. I know that these guys in the pits have been rock solid, especially the second half of the year. We’ll have a good car tomorrow to go racing, especially as we go through a fuel stint and the car changes. It’s going to be a little hotter and a little windier tomorrow, but I think that challenge plays right into our hands.”

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16
RESULTS
Practice 1: P15, 1:17.9969
Practice 2: P9, 1:17.3064

IN CK’S WORDS
“Overall, it’s been a pretty good day for the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing Team. The No. 83 Tresiba Chevrolet wasn’t quite as good this morning as how we finished the test last week. We worked to make it better this afternoon, but we have some room to improve. Being inside the top-10 is good, but not great. We need to find a little speed to be up front tomorrow. We absolutely have the capability to make it into the Firestone Fast Six in qualifying. If you qualify in the Fast Six here, a podium is definitely a possibility.”
