Charlie Kimball is on a hot streak.

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver ended the Month of May with two top-five finishes in the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis 500, where he was the surprise top finisher for Ganassi in third place.

“It took a couple of races, but we’ve hit our stride,” Kimball said in a release.

Now Kimball will try to continue his good fortune this weekend at the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit at the Raceway at Belle Isle Park.

“Even with a quick turnaround, I can’t wait to get back out in the No. 83 Levemir FlexTouch Chevrolet this weekend for the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit,” Kimball said. “It’s not only a challenge for the drivers to switch from an oval to road course mentality, but it’s also a lot of work for the Verizon IndyCar Series crews and engineers to be ready for the doubleheaders.”

Kimball has had relative success at Belle Isle in his five career starts on the 2.35-mile, 14-turn street course. The California native has finished outside the top 10 only once and his best finish is third in last year’s race two, which was his only podium of 2014.
