Fastest lap: 34
Average speed: 116.472 mph
Caution laps: 46

IN CK’S WORDS
“Obviously we wanted a better finish than our third-place result last year but we’ll definitely take a top-five here at IMS, especially after having some issues earlier in the race. We had some bad luck early on after picking up some debris from a crash and needing to make a front wing change, but we just put our heads down and started working our way back up one at a time. The No. 42 Tresiba® Chevrolet was strong today as were the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing guys. Even though it’s not the win we wanted, this is solid momentum leading into the doubleheader next weekend in Detroit.”

FRIDAY, MAY 27
RESULTS
Practice: P26
Best lap speed: 221.221 mph

IN CK’S WORDS
“Even though our speeds didn’t really show it in today’s practice, I’m really happy with the consistency of the No. 42 42 Tresiba® Chevrolet. We were still working with some downforce levels during the session, but we’re feeling confident with where we are with the race car. I loved seeing all of the fans come out today– I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many people out here on Carb Day. Today was just a preview of how great the race is going to be and I can’t wait to get out there and take the green flag for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.”

MONDAY, MAY 23
RESULTS
Practice: P6
Best lap speed: 225.830 mph

IN CK’S WORDS
“Overall I’m really happy with the No. 42 Tresiba® Chevrolet. We did a lot of laps today, I think it was around 100, working on the race car and working in traffic. We’re just figuring out what it’s going to take to get up front and stay up front. Obviously starting 16th we have a few cars to pass before we can get in striking distance. We’ll spend the next few days going over data from all of the Chip Ganassi Racing cars trying to figure out how to get the No. 42 a little quicker in traffic and a little quicker out front on its own.”

SUNDAY, MAY 22
RESULTS
Qualifying: P16
4-lap average qualifying speed: 227.822 mph

IN CK’S WORDS
“We made some big changes to the car overnight and it was much better this morning in practice. The No. 42 Tresiba® Chevrolet was a little less reactive to the conditions, which was nice because we fought the wind quite a lot yesterday. That’s the great thing about Chip Ganassi Racing – you get a lot of data to learn from especially with guys as good as TK and Dixon. Overall regardless of how today went, we have a really good race car. We’ll work on the race setup tomorrow and Friday, and just keep with the mentality that it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.”

SATURDAY, MAY 21
RESULTS
Practice: P12, 228.204 mph
Qualifying: P25
4-lap average qualifying speed: 226.549 mph

IN CK’S WORDS
“I’m definitely disappointed with our qualifying run. We’ve been fairly strong all week and we just couldn’t get it done out there today. We obviously didn’t make it into the top nine, but we’ll get our chance tomorrow to put the No. 42 Tresiba® Chevrolet into a better starting position for the race next weekend.”

FRIDAY, MAY 20
RESULTS
Practice: P28
Best lap speed: 228.867 mph (lap 17)
Best no-tow lap speed: 228.102 mph (lap 9)
Total laps: 26

IN CK’S WORDS
“We focused on qualifying simulations today. We had three really good runs, making the car better and trimming downforce and drag out of it, so we know what we have when it’s time for qualifying tomorrow. Unfortunately the last couple of runs got interrupted with the yellows, but I’ve got a lot of confidence in the No. 42 car. I know the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing guys have worked so hard all this week, and now they will put in long hours tonight to get the car as ready as possible for tomorrow. I feel good about it and can’t wait to see what qualifying brings.”

THURSDAY, MAY 19
RESULTS
Practice: P5
Best lap speed: 227.477 mph (lap 9)
Best no-tow lap speed: 224.143 mph (lap 63)
Total laps: 68

IN CK’S WORDS
“I’m pretty happy with the race work we did earlier in practice today. We made a lot of progress on balance and grip. We tried some things that didn’t work, but circled back and the 42 car came alive again. I feel like we’re going in a good direction to be able to work in traffic, as far as grip, which is the most important thing. We went out to do some qualifying work late this afternoon, and I can tell it’s going to be tight. It’ll be fun to get the extra horsepower out of the Chevy engines tomorrow, and we’ll see what the Team Chevy aerokit brings on Saturday and Sunday.”

WEDNESDAY, MAY 18
RESULTS
Practice: P6
Best lap speed: 226.77 mph (lap 61)
Best no-tow lap speed: 221.689 mph (lap 3)
Total laps: 77

IN CK’S WORDS
“Today went really well for the No. 42 Tresiba® Chevrolet. I think a lot of guys were excited to get back out on track, especially after getting rained out yesterday. It was a beautiful day at IMS and the No. 42 car ran pretty well. We did a lot of work on the race setup in traffic and I was pretty happy with where we ended the day. We made some changes that made the car better, and we made some changes that we decided weren’t the right way to go. Overall I think Chip Ganassi Racing has a solid foundation to learn from heading into the next couple of days. Looking ahead, we’ll probably do a couple of race work runs to start the day and then we’ll start getting a solid eye toward qualifying this weekend.”

MONDAY, MAY 16
RESULTS
Practice: P7
Best lap speed: 225.858 mph (lap 30)
Best no-tow lap speed: 221.373 mph (lap 35)
Total laps: 38

IN CK’S WORDS
“Frankly any day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a good day. Getting our first laps out on the oval this year was fantastic. The No. 42 Tresiba® Chevrolet felt good. We made some changes and improvements, and learned a lot of things throughout the afternoon. We spent the session just kind of figuring out where we are as a team. It’s day one and we have a lot of practice left to go. We’ll keep an eye on the weather for the next few days. If weather is anything like today on race day, I feel confident about where we are.”
