Happy Tech Tuesday! I’ll kick off this new series by sharing some insight into the Verizon IndyCar Series’ technical inspection process.

At the start of each race weekend, the cars roll out of the transporters and crews begin setting up for the first practice session. But before it can even take one lap, every car must go through technical inspection. IndyCar officials check everything from wing heights and total weight of the car, to driver helmets and pedal position. Not only are the inspections in place to keep a competitive and level playing field for the teams but also for driver safety. As drivers, we must go through weigh-in at tech immediately following the first on-track session of the race weekend. The cars will go through four more inspections throughout the race weekend, including post-race.
